No extra public holiday for Liberation Day 2026
BBCThere will not be an additional public holiday day in Guernsey for this year's Liberation Day celebrations, the States of Guernsey has confirmed.
The States said there had been "questions" about whether there would be a bank holiday day in lieu for the celebration as this year Liberation Day falls on Saturday 9 May.
The Committee for Economic Development has "followed what has been done in previous years" and left the public holiday on the Saturday, the States added.
It said it was "up to individual employers" to decide whether they would like to offer their staff a day off in lieu.
