Queen Victoria Square in Hull will light up in blue and yellow later in solidarity with Ukraine

A city square will light up in blue and yellow to show solidarity with the people of Ukraine, four years since Russia launched its full-scale invasion.

Queen Victoria Square in Hull will be illuminated later with the Ukraine flag already flying at the Guildhall, Hull City Council said.

Thousands of refugees have sought safety in the UK under the Homes for Ukraine scheme with many coming to East Yorkshire.

Leader of Hull City Council Mike Ross said: "As much as we can do, we remain steadfast in our opposition to Russia's actions, and our solidarity will continue with Ukraine throughout."

Ross said the square will light up from dusk to allow the city to pay tribute to Ukrainians' suffering over the last four years.
