Police have appealed for witnesses after a pedestrian suffered serious head injuries when he was struck by a car in Leicester.

Officers were called to Melton Road in Rushey Mead, between the junctions for Moores Road and Flax Road, on 29 January.

The pedestrian, in his 50s, was hit by a grey Nissan Pixo between 20:45 and 20:50 GMT, according to Leicestershire Police in an appeal issued on Tuesday.

No arrests have yet been made.

PC Steve Bates, from the force's roads policing unit, said: "I'm appealing for anyone who has not yet spoken to police to get in touch."
