What have been the big stories in the West this week?
Gloucestershire Live reported on concerns that domestic cats from a new town near Gloucester could "kill and wipe out" nightingales in an ancient woodland. The RSPCA said the plans for 2,000 homes in Churcham pose a threat to the birds, which nest near or on the ground.
Avon and Somerset Police said officers want to speak to three men after a dead horse was found on a busy road. Neighbourhood inspector Stephen Baines said it was a case of "animal cruelty" and was causing "significant concern".
The emergency services and students from the Somerset Ryū Karate club have been given a heartfelt thank you after 15-year-old Poppy Drury suffered a sudden cardiac arrest during training. The young black belt has since made a full recovery and has been diagnosed with Long QT, a genetic condition affecting the rhythm of the heart.
Burnham-On-Sea.com reported on the Porsche that crashed into a wall outside a house in the early hours of Sunday, leading to an arrest.
Construction of the new leisure centre in Trowbridge has reached a major milestone, according to Our Wiltshire. The building is officially weather-tight with the completion of the roof.
