A new BBC TV drama is to be filmed in and around Hull and Leeds.

Shy and Lola is described as a "dark comedy" about two women caught up in a murder involving the criminal underworld.

Based on a French series, it is written by Amanda Coe and stars Bel Powley and Hayley Squires in the title roles.

Coe described it as a "dream of a show to write, full of fun, action and emotion".

"I can't wait to see our hugely exciting cast and director bring it to life," she added.

The six-part series will start shooting in spring in Leeds and Hull, a BBC spokesperson said.
