Family pays tribute to man fatally injured at park
Leicestershire PoliceA 62-year-old man who was found fatally injured in a park in Leicester has been described by his family as a "loving father, brother, partner and grandfather".
A murder investigation was launched after James McKeown, also known as Jimmy, was found unconscious in Beaumont Leys Park at 18:20 BST on Monday and later died in hospital.
A 33-year-old man who was arrested on Monday evening on suspicion of murder, remains in police custody.
An area within the park was cordoned off while officers carried out their enquiries, but police said that had since been lifted.
'Difficult time'
A statement by Jimmy's family said: "To say that the events of yesterday evening have changed our lives forever is an understatement.
"We have lost a loving father, brother, partner and grandfather, our lives will never be the same again.
"Jimmy has lived locally for nearly 20 years and was well known in the community, affectionately known to many as Spider.
"We would ask that people respect our privacy and give us the time to come to terms with what has happened."
Det Insp Kevin Hames, from the East Midlands Murder Investigation Team, said: "This is an extremely difficult time for Jimmy's family and specialist officers continue to support them.
"If you have any information about the incident, or the circumstances leading up to it, and have not yet spoken with officers, we would ask that you get in touch."
