Part of a building's roof was ripped off by high winds overnight, leading to town centre road closures.

A piece of felt roofing appears to have come off Unity House, a former council building now used as apartments in Luton, the BBC was told.

Bedfordshire Police said Stuart Street was closed Westbound between Cardiff Road and Buxton Road.

No-one was injured in the incident, and police, fire services and Luton Borough Council were working to make the area safe, the force said. People have been asked to avoid the area.
