Community-owned estate planning new homes in Lewis

A community-owned estate in the Western Isles has submitted plans to build eight semi-detached houses.

If approved, the Galson Estate Trust (GET) properties at Upper Barvas in Lewis would first be used by people working on SSEN energy projects.

They would later be made available to the general public, including young families.

The proposed development would be on land currently used as common grazing and would be accessed via a new access road from the main A857 Stornoway to Ness road.
