Man injured after fire at Belfast hospital
BBCA fire in the emergency department of the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast has been extinguished.
The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) said they were called to a blaze in the ground floor of the ED at 18:43 BST.
The NIFRS said a man was injured following a fire in the toilets of the ED. BBC News NI understands he is being treated for burns.
The main waiting area and reception remained closed at midnight on Wednesday.
A number of police officers remained at the scene at that stage.
Four fire appliances were sent to tackle the fire and the NIFRS said the scene was "smoke-logged".
The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said it has been transporting patients to alternative EDs, and will continue to do so until the incident has been resolved.
