Gas leak road closure lifted earlier than scheduled
GoogleThe closure of a major road in Derbyshire has been lifted within hours - despite initial warnings it could last "for days".
Cadent, the gas infrastructure company, said on Wednesday a stretch of the A6 Haddon Road, near Bakewell, would have to be shut to repair a gas leak.
It warned the repairs, along with work to reinstate the road surface, would likely take some time and diversions were in place.
However on Thursday, Cadent confirmed the route had reopened, though traffic lights remain in the area for ongoing maintenance.
A Cadent spokesperson said: "We are pleased to confirm our engineers have successfully repaired the gas leak beneath the A6 near Bakewell in Derbyshire, and the road has now reopened.
"Thank you to everyone for their patience and understanding while we completed this emergency work."
