Investigation launched after man dies in fire

A man has been found dead at the scene of a fire in East Kent.

Emergency services were called to Lancaster Close, Ramsgate, about 11:00 GMT on Friday, where an outbuilding was on fire.

Two fire engines were sent, with Kent Police and the South East Coast Ambulance Service also at the scene.

Just after 18:00 Kent Fire and Rescue confirmed a man had died at the scene, with the cause of the fire being investigated.

At its height six fire engines were at the scene and residents were advised to shut their windows.

Smoke could be seen billowing from Preston Street's Alexander Centre on New Year's Eve afternoon.
