BBC/Jennie DennettA crematorium's roof has been damaged by a fire leading to the postponement of services.
People reported seeing smoke coming from Thorncliffe Crematorium on Devonshire Road in Barrow, Cumbria, just before 20:00 GMT on Thursday.
Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze, which has been put out, was being treated as accidental but the cause is not yet known.
A Westmorland and Furness Council spokesperson said: "Any services that were planned today [Friday] have now been rearranged... with the families and associated funeral directors."
They added: "Information on services for next week will be distributed to funeral directors today and if anyone has any concerns regarding any immediate upcoming services please contact the relevant appointed funeral director who is leading on that service."
The fire service said: "We appreciate this will be a difficult and upsetting time for those affected.
"Our thoughts are with those families impacted, and we thank the public for their patience and understanding."
The BBC has approached the crematorium for more information.
