City to review contract rules with suppliers
LDRSA council has been recommended to include clearer guidance on contracts with outside service providers, including health suppliers.
Members of Peterborough City Council's constitution and ethics committee were presented with a report authored by Satinder Sahota, interim director for legal and governance at the authority, on Monday.
The report proposed to update contract rules within the current constitution that had been identified as outdated, as well as providing clearer guidance on the types of contracts - and improving rules for managing, varying and terminating them.
It stated: "The council's current contract rules have not been subjected to a full review in many years."
It said a full review of contract rules had been undertaken by its legal services to "ensure that they are fit for purpose".
Recommendations also include updating procedures for awarding contracts and stronger governance requirements.
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the report stated that amendments would help support value for money and strengthen governance as the council prepared for future organisational changes.
The recommendation to revise the contract rules would need to be approved by full council before the proposed changes come into effect.
