The Quay Theatre in Sudbury said it was closed for 48 hours due to a burst water pipe

A theatre has had to temporarily close after a pipe burst and part of the building flooded.

Quay Theatre in Sudbury said on social media staff had arrived earlier and found the flood.

It said the theatre would remain closed for the next 48 hours while it tackled the issue.

Planned film screenings for the next few days had been cancelled and those affected would be emailed.

The theatre's building dates back to 1791 when it was a warehouse for The River Stour Navigation Company.

It continued to be used for storage, but in 1977 it was converted into a theatre after being purchased by the Sudbury Dramatic Society for £15,000.

Today it hosts a wide range of live productions as well as comedy shows and films.
