Biker hurt and horse killed in separate A10 crashes

Part of a major road in Norfolk has been closed in both directions due to two separate crashes in which a biker wasseriously injuredand a horse killed.

A car hit the horse, believed to be running loose on the A10 near Stow Bardolph, near Downham Market, at about 06:10 BST, police said.

In the second collision at about 07:00, a motorcyclist was flown in a "critical condition" to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge after a crash with a van at Runcton Road, South Runcton, near King's Lynn.

Officers said the A10 would remain closed for "some time" and urged drivers to avoid the area.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service said it had attended the scene to assist one person from a vehicle in the first collision.

The East of England Ambulance Service said it took one person from that crash to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn for further treatment.

A spokesman added that two ambulances, a paramedic car and the East Anglian Air Ambulance were sent to the crash at South Runcton.
