Cyclist dies following crash with car on Shetland

A 51-year-old cyclist has died in a collision with a car in Shetland.

The crash, involving a black Ford Ranger, happened on the B9074 in Trondra at about 22:00 on Saturday.

The cyclist was taken to hospital but died a short time later. The occupants of the Ford were not injured.

Police have appealed for anyone who was in the area at the time and may have information to come forward.

The road will remain closed throughout the day as inquiries are carried out.
