The group will help mums readjust to working life

A new community group has been launched to support mums returning to work after having children.

Rooted and Rising, in Guernsey, will run lunchtime sessions each month for working mums with children up to three years old.

Founded by Jessica Robinson and Camilla Hobbs after their own experiences of going back to work, the sessions will be led by Bright Beginnings children's charity, focusing on open discussion, shared experiences and practical advice.

"On returning to work, it is easy to be cut off from these support networks, making what is already a difficult transaction harder," said Robinson.

She added that the aim of the group was to provide a space for mums to "connect, share experiences and access expert guidance".

Selected sessions will also feature guest experts such as health visitors and women's physiotherapists.

Hobbs said: "Making the adjustment back to working life is difficult to do without proper support and understanding.

"Our aim in setting up this group is to help create that missing support network for mums in an accessible space for those with busy working lives."

'Connection really matters'

Bright Beginnings said it was important for parents to have a safe and supportive space.

"Rooted and Rising brings mums together at a time when connection really matters, and we are pleased to help guide those conversations and offer practical support," a spokesperson said.

The sessions run on the last Monday of each month, in the Dorey Room at Guille-Allès Library between 13:00 and 14:00 GMT.
