Brighton CollegeA film directed by a former Brighton College student has been nominated for eight awards at this year's Oscars.
Chloe Zhao, who studied at the East Sussex private school from 1998 to 2000, previously won best director at the Baftas and Oscars in 2021 for her film Nomadland.
This year's nominated film, Hamnet, is based on Maggie O'Farrell's novel exploring an imagined look at the life of William Shakespeare and his wife Anne after the death of their son.
It has been nominated for Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Score, Best Costume Design, Best Production Design and Best Casting.

"We remember Chloé not only for her creativity and drive, but also for her happiness and kindness, qualities we cherish at Brighton College," he added.
"We wish her the very best of luck for the Oscars in March."
The award ceremony will take place on 15 March, hosted by US comedian Conan O'Brien.
Zhao, who was born in China, made history in 2021 by being the first Asian woman to win Best Director at the Golden Globes.
