Play parks reopen after 'significant' upgrades
Torridge District CouncilParks in north Devon have reopened after undergoing £210,000 worth of refurbishment works.
Torridge District Council said the upgraded facilities provided "much needed free spaces for families to enjoy together".
The authority said, alongside its contributions towards the upgrades, it had also worked in partnership with Pollyfield Community Centre and local councillors, who supported the project with fundraising events and housing development funds.
Lead member for leisure Lyndon Piper said the improvements at Pollyfield in Bideford's East-the-Water, Northgate play area in Hartland and Elm Meadow in Winkleigh was helping to support the "health and wellbeing" of children and young people.
Torridge District CouncilElms Meadow play area has received all new equipment, with Westcotts Drive gaining a new multi-unit with surfacing and a new bench.
The council added Northgate play area had also received a "significant upgrade".
These sites were funded by the government's Rural England Prosperity Fund, the the council said.
Piper added: "We thank all the communities involved for their patience during the works and look forward to seeing these play parks filled with fun, energy and laughter."
