Plans have been lodged to build up to 45 homes, a 65-bed care home and a doctor's surgery on agricultural land near Wolverhampton.

Two alternative schemes in Wheaton Aston, Staffordshire, have been submitted, depending on whether the surgery is included in the development.

Both schemes submitted to South Staffordshire Council include two-fifths of the housing being affordable and four self-build plots.

The developer estimated the four-year scheme could inject £70m into the local economy and would create 45 full-time jobs.

One scheme proposes 40 homes, a 65-bed care home and a doctor's surgery with the second for 45 homes but without the surgery, while retaining the care home.

The surgery has been included due to comments made by the parish council.
