Government funding will altogether provide 82 new buses in total for the area, operated by both East Yorkshire Buses and Stagecoach East Midlands.

Councillor Mark Ieronimo, portfolio holder for transport and infrastructure, claimed the new buses would "revolutionise public transport in Hull".

"These new vehicles will have a transformative impact on public transport throughout the city," he said.

"As well as providing quieter and more comfortable journeys, they will also improve the reliability of services and help us encourage, and increase, passenger demand."
