Aberdeen finally sees sunshine after 21 days of gloom

The last reported sunshine had been on 21 January - the longest sunless period since records began in 1957.

The first 10 days of the year brought heavy snow to the north east of Scotland, and it has barely stopped raining since then.

It is half a century since the Forties field was inaugurated - one of the first in the North Sea.

Police were called to the crash involving a pedestrian and a Citroen C1 at about 22:45 on 15 May.

The 34-year-old man was hit by a black Citroen C1 on Dyce Drive in Aberdeen on Thursday.

The railway line between Aberdeen and Dyce has been closed as it is unsafe to run trains under the bridge.

About 60 firefighters were called out to Dyce Academy, which has been closed as a result.

Campaigners believe many Aberdeenshire communities need to be reconnected with train links.
