Castleton museum announces closure

The museum will no longer be able to use a space it occupies at Castleton Visitor Centre.

Part of the proposal includes opening up the River Wye to create a new public space.

Unison members will now vote on the deal, but if it is rejected the strikes may be back on.

The vision includes repurposing a shopping centre with new shops, bars, cafes, homes and work spaces.

Shoppers will be able to park in council-owned car parks for free on every Saturday in December.

It is expected to take around six weeks to complete and should be open before Christmas.

Nigel Barrow, 78, was airlifted to hospital after the blast in November last year but later died.
