Moo-ving moment as cow saved from 20ft slurry pit
Firefighters got a cow moo-ving after she wandered into a slurry pit and ended up 20ft (7m) deep in a smelly mud bath.
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service released footage of her rescue on Wednesday after it said she bolted from the herd and through a broken fence at Lodge Farm in Stapleton.
The slurry pit was being pumped at the time and the herd had been moved to safety - but one broke free and got stuck neck-deep in the pit earlier this month.
Firemen used inflatable rescue sleds to reach the stricken cow, then attached a harness to her front legs and pulled her on to dry land.
The service said: "After the cow was safely back on solid land, the firefighters and their kit went through a thorough decontamination procedure.
"They've never been so squeaky clean in their lives."
