'Diplomatic channels are the way to go' over Greenland, US speaker tells BBC

Speaking to the BBC's Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg before President Trump announced tariffs on countries supporting Greenland, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives said he doesn't "foresee military intervention in Greenland" by the US.

Trump's ally Mike Johnson told Laura Kuenssberg that "diplomatic channels are the way to go", when asked about how the president planned to acquire Greenland without military action.

Trump announced plans to hit the UK, Denmark and other European countries with a 10% tariff on "all or any goods" exported to the US from 1 February.
