Moment trio arrested over fire that killed couple

Footage released by police showed the moment three killers were arrested over an arson attack in which an elderly couple died.

Sheila Jackson, 83, and Eric Greener, 77, died after their house in South John Street, St Helens, was doused in petrol and set alight on 15 July 2025.

Detectives found that the attack was ordered by drug-dealer Kevin Weetman, 34, who was intending to target Jackson's son George - who prosecutors said had refused to sell drugs for him.

Weetman, of Aigburth in Liverpool, was jailed for life with a minimum term of 25 years in prison at Liverpool Crown Court after a jury had cleared him of murder but found him guilty of manslaughter.

Kylie Maynard, 37, assisted the plan by providing Weetman with information about the address and was jailed for 23 years after being convicted of manslaughter.

Lee Owens, 46, helped set the fire and was jailed for 13-and-a-half years after admitting manslaughter.

Another man, 40-year-old Paul Smith, also helped set the fire but died shortly afterwards.
