We are regular visitors to the Dinosaur Adventure Park at Lenwade, near Norwich, and are always thrilled by how much there is to do. We have never been to a party there before but my two children were delighted to be invited to seven-year-old George's birthday party. A monster party: Dino comes to meet the party-goers |
We met up in the car park and lost the children the moment we entered the park to the trampolines.
Jurassic climbing frame This was before they spotted the climb-a-saurus and made a run for it.
A few years ago when I visited, the whole of our under-fives playgroup ended up engrossed in this dinosaur playground and we had to send in a slim playgroup supervisor to retrieve them. I was worried when my three-year-old daughter followed the seven-year-olds into the depths of the beast because I knew I had no chance of following! But to my relief they have a member of staff inside to help out little ones when they get lost. Lovely lollies The dinosaur trail held its usual excitement and all the children avidly collected their dinosaur stamps, hoping to pick up their free lollipop at the end. We had a bit of a breather down by the wallaby wood while the kids ran around the small play area near the secret garden. If you're naughty at the Dinosaur Park you could end up in the stocks! |
Some of the kids were put in the stocks when they got out of hand, giving them and us a chance to cool off! Most of the children shot straight through the petting shed on the way to the tractor rides, but my daughter couldn't resist stopping to stroke a guinea pig. Dino delicacies After a good run around, we realised the birthday tea was to be served in less than 10 minutes and we had to hike back up to the restaurant where lots of terrano-burgers and fishy-sauruses were being dished up. George loved tucking into a dinosaur! |
After much munching, drinks and searching in the goody bags (you provide your own) the cake was brought out. This is an extra but was quite impressive and Dino came to cuddle the birthday boy and pose for photos. Afterwards there was plenty of time to blast outside again and monopolise the Jurassic pitch and putt and the raptor racers. We went round the adventure playground again and into the maze to track down the lost tribe and the last of our stamps for our free lolly. Mum's final word George's mother, Lucy, said: "The dinosaur park is a truly awesome place to hold a birthday party and my seven-year-old was very impressed. "On the other hand, we had a party of eight adults and 14 children and we still had a real problem keeping all the children together. "That and the disadvantage of not many staff on the outposts meant it wasn’t so enjoyable for the grown-ups," she added. My advice is keep the number of children to a minimum. |
