When you were not well and walked away from your commitments, what made you decide to return to the very job or jobs that you left behind?

Stephen Fry: Delightful of you to remind me.(!) What made me return really were the thousands of letters from well-wishers. Such kindness from strangers is impossible to ignore, however you're feeling.

If you had a time machine, where and when would you go?

Stephen Fry: Don't know why, but probably Regency London. Something about the mixture of style, language and energy that I find appealing.

There is a magnificent Egyptian monument over the grave of Oscar Wilde in Paris. What image or monument would you like to have marking your resting place?

Stephen Fry: An iMac computer on whose screen were a pair of tragedy and comedy masks, below it crossed cricket bats resting on a pile of books. I think that would more or less do.

You obviously appreciate the beauty and tranquility of Norfolk. How would you achieve the balance of keeping these features and yet catering for and encouraging the vital tourist industry?

Stephen Fry: It's a hard one. If the M11 were to continue up to Norwich it would make it easier to get to, but would it be deleterious to the county? I run hot and cold on this one.
