"After going in and getting ready to order, I was approached by a staff member and asked to leave because I had my guide dog Nisha with me". "Basically the staff member would not take any notice of anything I said and after a lengthy discussion I was forced to leave". "I was so upset I actually burst into tears. It was so humiliating". This is precisely the problem the "Access for All"
campaign run by Guide Dogs for the Blind is trying to highlight during Guide Dog Week. It is illegal to not serve a person because of their guide or helping dog.  | | Andrew Horton |
Andrew Horton, restaurant manager of the McDonalds where Jenny was receiving a first class service, said "whilst we do not allow dogs we always allow guide dog because not only would it be against the law, blind people need to eat too". Jenny has since received an apology from KFC but has decided that she much prefers McDonalds at present. It costs nothing to attract and keep a guide dog owner's custom.
