BBC Radio Devon has gained 3,000 extra listeners over the last year and now has an average weekly audience of 269,000, a record for the station, according to latest official figures. The figures are from Rajar (Radio Joint Audience Research Ltd) – an independent survey system which tracks radio listening for both BBC and commercial stations – for the first quarter of 2007. Rajar's figures also reveal that more than 17% of the population within the Radio Devon transmission area listen to the station each week. Robert Wallace, Managing Editor, Radio Devon, says: "I'm absolutely thrilled, and it's a credit to all the team here, that our audience figures are up once again helping us set a new record for the station."
