30 minutes of classical inspiration
Half an hour of back-to-back classical music including works by Gabriel Fauré, Barbara Strozzi, Florence Price and Ruth Gipps.
Wind down at the end of a busy day with half an hour of back-to-back classical music. Today's sequence begins with a beautiful rendition of Agnus Dei from Gabriel Fauré's Requiem, followed by Nigel Kennedy playing Méditation from Jules Massenet's opera Thaïs. Some calming solo piano music from Florence Price takes us to Ruth Gipps's Oboe Concerto, masterfully played by oboist Juliana Koch. Yuja Wang and the Boston Symphony Orchestra then follow, with a rich performance of the second movement of Shostakovich's Second Piano Concerto, before 17th-century Venetian composer Barbara Strozzi closes tonight's sequence with Che si può fare.
