Laufey - Chat and Full Set

Laufey performs alongside the BBC Concert Orchestra from BBC Maida Vale studios for Radio 2’s Piano Room Month.

Laufey is an Icelandic singer with a family history of classical music, and as a child she started learning the piano at age four and the cello at eight, performing with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra at fifteen and studying at Reykjavík College of Music, followed by Berklee College of Music in the US. Her debut album, Everything I Know About Love, was released in 2022, followed by her sophomore, Betwitched, which won her a Grammy Award. Her third album, A Matter of Time, was released in August last year, and she is performing in the Radio 2 Piano Room ahead of some huge UK arena shows in Manchester and London in March.

Back for its fifth year, Radio 2 Piano Room Month sees globally famous, award-winning artists perform three tracks - a new song, one of their well-known numbers, and an unexpected cover version - all accompanied by the BBC Concert Orchestra.
