Former schoolfriends Ian and Dan have drifted apart – and don’t know how to talk about their feelings and the struggles of adult life. Can Bear help?

Former best friends Ian and Dan have drifted apart since leaving school and going down different paths in life. As children, they shared laughs and adventures together. But they haven’t found a way to take this friendship with them into adulthood.

Ian has experienced some tough challenges with his mental health, so he has really missed having his best friend to lean on, while Dan feels Ian has been preoccupied with his new life and doesn’t make space for him any more.

Bear sets the pair physical and survival challenges, which they take on with gusto, despite pouring rain and a flooded shelter. There’s lots of banter and laughs, but things seem stuck at surface-level, and both admit they don’t find it easy to talk to each other about their emotions.

Around the campfire, psychologist Tara guides them through their first experience of discussing their feelings and struggles.

Can they make this friendship work in the long run, or is it best left as a childhood memory?
