Composer Nico Muhly on the power of choral music

Tom with an all star composer line up! Nico Muhly chats about his new album of choral music, plus Academy Award winner Hildur Guðnadóttir on some of her best-loved film scores.

Tom Service with guests, stories and the perfect classical soundtrack for the weekend!

The American composer Nico Muhly has written over one hundred works for choirs, and despite being a New Yorker has made a musical home in this very British musical tradition. He chats to Tom about his new album of choral works written for the Tallis Scholars that intersperse texts from Lamentations with interviews with members of the Windrush Generation.

Conductor Delyana Lazarova is the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra's new Principal Guest Conductor, and she chats to Tom about why collaboration is the key to everything she does.

Also, as part of our Creators series and on the eve of this year's Oscars, the Icelandic composer Hildur Guðnadóttir talks to Tom about her score for The Joker which in 2019 made her the first female composer to win for Best Original Soundtrack at the Academy Awards. Hildur also has a show coming up at London's Barbican Centre and chats about how she's bringing her new album to life in this special immersive sound and light spectacular.
