Take 30 minutes out with a relaxing classical mix

Take time out with a 30-minute soundscape of classical favourites, including music by Copland, Cecilia McDowall and Mendelssohn.

Half an hour of back to back classical music to help you wind down after a busy day.

Today's mix begins with the Pavane from Peter Warlock's folk-inflected Capriol Suite, followed by the atmospheric and almost childlike piano melody of Copland's Story of Our Town, in a juicy arrangement by Vince Mendoza. Cecilia McDowall picks up the baton with her shimmering choral piece, God is Light, which melts into the meditative sounds of the Andante from Mendelssohn's Organ Sonata No. 5. Two chirpy serenades by Ronald Binge and Joaquim Malats lighten the mood, after which Hannah Holgersson's soaring soprano radiates from Anders Hillborg's O Dessa Ogon. The mixtape concludes with a soft piano piece by Clara Schumann: Romance in B Minor.

Produced by Phoebe McFarlane.
