Peaceful sounds of green fields and glades ft. Simon Armitage
Escape with composer Erland Cooper for a musical journey into calm inspired by the peace found in open fields and glades, with a safe haven from Poet Laureate Simon Armitage.
Scottish composer Erland Cooper invites you on another hour-long journey into calmness.
In this episode, Erland conjures up the peacefulness found out in open grassy fields, from the sounds of birdsong in a natural glade to a song inspired by the sun shining on a meadow. There are pieces from composer Mhairi Hall and field recordist David de la Haye, saxophonist Chip Wickham and gentle piano improvisations made alongside field recordings courtesy of Akira Kosemura.
Also, the writer, musician and Poet Laureate Simon Armitage transports us to his safe haven, a piece which has, since his twenties, brought him companionship and encouragement.
