The hidden heroes of the midlands
On land and in water, West Mercia Search & Rescue's mission is to find missing people across Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Shropshire.
Discover how members come from all walks of life, providing expertise in harsh conditions as well as closure for families suffering when loved ones can't be found.
With bases in Telford, Bridgnorth and Kidderminster, the organisation had a record year in 2025, making more than sixty searches.
Stuart Tyrer and Steve Arnold share their experience as volunteers.
Vicki Jones tells Tammy Gooding how the team from West Mercia Search & Rescue team supported her family when their son Tom went missing in 2018.
