Gemy and General Remy
Gemy and General Remy are thrilling Sierra Leone and Mauritius with very different vibes.
Gemy has shot to the top of the charts in Sierra Leone with his melodious track Salone Titi. He tells This Is Africa how grateful he is to the musical family of a school friend, thanks to whom his vocal talent was spotted and his first steps in music supported.
Self-styled bad boy General Remy is representing Mauritius with his shatta dancehall sound. He is also very popular in other Indian Ocean nations, especially Seychelles and Reunion. When he isnβt making music he says you can find him out on the ocean fishing, even though he hates eating fish!
