Men at work

Listen again in full

Steve needs Wayne like a vacuum cleaner needs a handful of paper clips...

You see...Steve can clean!

When Steve's wife Ana was rushed into hospital to have her baby 3 months prematurely, complications kept her in hospital rather longer than was originally planned. This left her husband Steve at home to a certain degradation of the standards of cleanliness and order Ana had come to expect.

But the news that his in-laws would be visiting from Portugal galvanised Steve into what passed in his disordered life for action but his tidying of the family home failed to impress.

Steve describes himself as 'an academic, new-age slob'. Having been left to his own devices, with his Rottweiler for a traumatic month, the house was in a bad way.

He spent 48 hours tidying up. But within 3 minutes of being in the house, Ana's mum decided a cleaner was required. Ana recommended Wayne.

But Wayne turned out to be a housework obsessive... Listen again to find out how they got on.
