Pursuing the repayment of an ancient debt connected past to present for Michael and his cousin Sally

When Michael Read and his second cousin (once removed), Sally Saunders went to Verdun in France to research the life and death of one of their ancestors, they had little idea of the train of events they had set in motion.

Their long-dead relation Captain George Read was a prisoner in Verdun during the Napoleonic Wars. But the story begins with the ship's log which prompted Michael to look further into the story of his great great grandfather...
