Young carer

Listen to the item

John was always keen to get young people on the programme and was very pleased to meet Zak Steel who, at the time of interview, was just nine which would definitely qualify you for the description 'young'.

Zak had come into the studio with his mother who is severely epileptic and in looking after her that day was merely continuing his role as her main carer even at such a tender age.

John asked Zak how he helps his mum when she has a fit.

If you want help or advice on epilepsy, you can call the BBC Actionline on 0800 044 044.
