The Asian women enjoying unprecedented global influence
When Forbes business magazine published its 2007 list of the world’s 100 most powerful women, it placed Asians in four of the top six positions. Wu Yi, the vice-premier of China and Ho Ching, chief executive of Singapore’s state-owned investment company Temasek, were both ranked higher than the US secretary of state, Condoleezza Rice. So what is behind the increasing influence of this small group of Asian women? And, what does it say about the position of women at large, in Asia and the Far East?
