Honouring the Somali women’s rights activist

The co-founder and Chair of Save Somali Women and Children, Asha Hagi Elmi, was the recent recipient of the 2008 Right Livelihood Award. Asha has dedicated her life to improving the situation of women and children in Somalia and has played an active part in establishing the ‘Sixth Clan’ – a pan-Somali women’s movement which aims to include women’s voices in the Transitional Federal Parliament. She joins Jane to discuss her hopes for Somalia’s future.
