The end of the dinner service13 Jan 2009
Dinner plates
Do we no longer value an expensive and matching set of china?

Traditionally, couples have acquired a dinner service as a wedding gift, but just how popular are they nowadays? And has the dishwasher as well as those quick meals on our laps in front of the television been a part of the reason why Wedgewood has gone into administration after 250 years? Eric Knowles, the ceramics expert on The Antiques Roadshow and award winning food writer Clarissa Hyman join Jane to take a look at the demise of the dinner service.
