Dr Heidi Kastner - psychiatrist to Josef Fritzl22 September 2009
On how she assessed he was sane enough to stand trial

Dr Heidi Kastner is the forensic psychiatrist who had to assess the mental state of Josef Fritzl. The Austrian was found guilty earlier this year of locking his daughter in a cellar for 24 years, raping her, and murdering one of the seven children he fathered. He was also convicted of incest and enslavement. Dr Kastner was expert witness for the prosecution. She met Fritzl and interviewed him alone six times before producing her report, in which she concluded he was sane enough to stand trial. She talk to Jane about meeting the man who described himself as 'born to rape'.
