Winning Women's Votes - How can Government policy improve child protection?
The government’s programme Every Child Matters and the 2004 Children Act were meant to improve child protection. They were implemented after Lord Laming’s Report on the death of Victoria Climbié. But in his follow up report in May last year, and following the death of Baby P, Lord Laming found that there was still a crisis in child protection and that many authorities had failed to implement his changes. So what still needs to be done to protect our most vulnerable children and how can government policy help?
