La Roux one of the artists tipped to take 2009 by storm by Deirdre O’Callaghan
The female artists to watch out for in 2009

For the past few years the music charts have been dominated by guys and their guitars but this could all be about to change. The BBC’s Sound of 2009 poll compiled by music experts was topped by the new artist the Little Boots - and she’s not alone. Female artists are well represented in a host of other newcomer lists. From the eighties electro of La Roux to the chart-topping show-stopping grooves of Lady GaGa, there’s a new wave of female acts waiting to take 2009 by storm. Jenni is joined by deputy editor of the NME, Krissi Murison, and pop critic from The Guardian, Caroline Sullivan.
