Women's experiences of conflict and human rights work
African women are responsible for the daily survival of their communities yet still they continue to have very little say in government decision-making, and millions experience violence, exclusion and discrimination as everyday realities. Later today women activists from Malawi, Sudan, Angola and Nigeria go to Parliament to take part in African Women’s Voices, a conference highlighting their experiences of conflict, human rights work, and development in their own countries. Khadiga Hussein, the founder of Sudanese Mothers for Peace and Mildred Sharra from ActionAid in Malawi join Jane to disuss what needs to be done to enable women to fully participate in decision-making in Africa.
