Giving a voice to the people of Nairobi slum, Methare

Twelve months ago, Kenya was dragged into chaos following the disputed election results. Although calm has now returned to the country, tens of thousands of people who were forced to flee their homes remain too scared to return. In the Nairobi slum of Mathare, hundreds of homes remain empty. Many are struggling to come to terms with the inter-tribal violence they experienced and the rift between communities remains deep. Victoria Averill met a group of young film-makers from Mathare who are taking to the slum’s alleyways to gather and screen stories that speak of peace and reconciliation.
