Women and the Indian Elections14 April 2009
Do Indian politicians care about targeting women voters?

Hundreds of millions of people are expected to vote as India holds its general elections during April and May. Campaigning is in full swing in the run-up to the first phase on 16 April. So what are the important issues for women voters, and are they a target group for campaigners? Urvashi Butalia, founder of the first women's press in India and journalist Sonia Faleiro join Jane Little to discuss the part gender plays in the voting habits of the world's biggest democracy.
